Surrounding area

Herberg de Aanleg is quietly situated in the cozy village of De Cocksdorp, which is located on the northern tip of Texel, near the famous lighthouse and the sea. De Aanleg is surrounded by the mudflats, the beach and beautiful nature reserves and is the perfect base for an unforgettable holiday, as well as for lunch or dinner.

De Cocksdorp

De Cocksdorp is the northernmost and youngest village of Texel (1835). It is known for a great wealth of nature, peace, beach and dunes. The village lies on the Roggesloot, an old creek that used to run straight into the Wadden Sea. This is an attractive area for all kinds of birds. Also, it is surrounded by lots of nature and of course the Wadden Sea!

The village itself offers:

  • Convenience store
  • Baker
  • Drugstore
  • Bike rental
  • Pharmacy
  • General practitioner
  • Shops & restaurants

Experience the real island feeling

The lighthouse is nearby and subtly shines its light over the village. In the case of a westerly wind, the waves of the North Sea can be heard. It’s a wonderful place to walk in peace along the wide sandy beach. Here you experience the real island feeling. From the lighthouse you have a beautiful view and, in clear weather, you can even see Vlieland (including bathing seals on the sandbanks).

It was our first time on Texel and we stayed in one of the family houses. It was perfect! There was plenty of room for the whole family and we were near the beach and the little town Cocksdorp with nice shops and cafes. The Aanleg restaurant was great too for lunch or dinner.

The apartment we stayed in was in a great location and the rooms were lovely and very comfortable. We had everything we needed and the owners were friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend it.
